Yes, you can have Medicare and Medicaid. You need to apply for Medicaid at your local DHS office. If you have special needs please Health Assist Tennessee at 1-800-722-7474. If you receive Medicare, there are several Medicare Cost Saving Programs for which you may be eligible. These are called QMB, SLMB, and QI1. These programs help with your Medicare premium, and in some cases, your deductible and coinsurance cost. You can apply for these programs at DHS. Medicare introduced its prescription program known as Medicare Part D which may cover prescriptions for individuals receiving Medicare. For more information on Medicare Part D or for assistance in choosing a Medicare Part D plan, contact 1-800-MEDICARE or go to www.Medicare.gov. Or you may contact a SHIP counselor at 1-877-801-0044.
